Thank you for sharing such fascinating travelogues. I love learning about various cultures and how people behave in different situations. That was a treat. But it's unfortunate there's more divide today, although I imagine we all just want unity. I always wonder how realistic or exaggerated films or shows are, especially in space or on an airplane. Maybe the latest ones are better about it, but still, there's so much you can do with cinema to make it seem authentic enough.
Thanks Nadia. Glad you enjoyed it. I love having these conversations with strangers in my travels. Movies and shows inflight are scripted so it omits many truths but I do find good documentaries and podcasts inflight that you don't generally see in the US. For example, in the Emirates flight, there was a lot of local middle-eastern content. Gives you a different perspective. I don't watch movies anymore inflight.
What an incredible journey you've had! You made me feel like I was right there with you, experiencing every twist and turn of your travels. The diverse conversations you had with the flight staff and the unexpected turns of the journey added such depth to the narrative. Thanks for taking us along on your trip through your words!
Welcome back, Winston. Hope you had a great new years. Good to see you active. You always read all my work and engage. Glad this resonated with you. I plan to write more in this series this year, probably once a month, either a current or past travelogue confession. Fingers crossed!
The most striking part of your story to me was your parents picking you up at the airport on the other end of your lovely transcontinental travels. That’s precious, treasure it for as long as long as you can--the fact you have them both and that they can physically come pick you up!🤞🏼Way better than coffee😉. Signed, chai lover.
Yes, so true. Should not be taken for granted. Both are in the late 70s. Dad’s about to hit 80 and still likes to drive. It was a treat to see them first.
What a wonderful story Raj and blessings for your safe arrival home. God I have fond memories of those lounges and a glass of scotch and two cubes. And long conversations. Thanks for sharing 🙏

It is always nice to be introduced to gems that have not yet gotten international attention but should.

Mom is homebound, dad passed several years back, but I loved using Substack to commemorate him in a piece!
Do share the piece. I would love to read it. I searched your posts but couldn’t identify which one was about your Dad.
That’s so nice of you! Here’s my lovely quirky dad:) https://anuprabhala.substack.com/p/quite-frankly-a-tribute-to-my-dad
That South Indian meal is making my mouth water. Amazing to have such friends in one's life.
Beautifully described Raj. It was as if I was a co passenger on that flight.
I too love conversations during travel. Learning about other people is the heart and soul of traveling.
